Budget Inn Columbus West

We were charged a $30 cash deposit, supposedly to be returned when we handed in the keys at checkout. We got only $20 back and had to insist on a receipt for the room we’d paid for in cash. Naturally, the receipt didn’t show the key deposit. The room was in bad shape too. Hair was in the tub and cobwebs showed in every ceiling corner. The bathroom door was propped in place with the arm of a pair of eyeglasses, and one table leg was just wedged under the tabletop, with no screw or bolt holding it. The room door needs replacing; I could fit my fingers between it and the frame. Travelers beware.

We arrived at midnight after 15 hours on the road and got stuck in the parking lot in our Uhaul while towing a vehicle. The front desk worker was hard to understand through the barrier, and explaining that we needed a room in the building where our truck and vehicle, with all our possessions, were stuck was like explaining algebra to a four-year-old. Two hotel guests started fighting in the lot in front of us, too. They seemed like meth addicts. We got ourselves unstuck and decided the place was unsafe, so we couldn’t stay. I went to check out two hours after checking in, and the front desk guy had the nerve to ask why. I told him this place is Hell on Earth. Don’t bring your family here, and don’t stop if you’re towing anything, even if you’re desperate.

We came to Columbus so my granddaughter and niece could take a dental state test. I should’ve made arrangements sooner. The online photos looked much better than the actual rooms, and I couldn’t find a pizza place that would deliver. One place said they’d only deliver if the office ordered for us. This isn’t really what we’re used to, but it’ll do for one night. I think I picked the wrong place to stay.

We went for Wizard World, but after sleeping for an hour, both my husband and I were getting eaten alive by bed bugs. We caught one in a cup and brought it to the front desk. They inspected the room and said we were lying. They refused to refund anything. Worst experience ever. Stay far away.
