La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Columbus Dublin

The breakfast was the usual selection and ran from 6-9, but at about 8:40 they turned the lights off in the breakfast room, making it look closed. I tried to take a hot shower in the morning and got only lukewarm water, so it was quick. My room was cold when I arrived, after a day when it was 25 degrees, and I kept my coat on for at least an hour. The hallways were dreary and dated, and the rooms were nothing special, though there was a lot of construction underway that could change that. Recent snow had left many parking spots uncleared, even though the nearby businesses had dealt with it. I don't understand how this hotel made my filtered list of top-rated places near Columbus, Ohio. It doesn't deserve the 4.5 rating shown there.

I've been here for work for the past four months. The location is perfect, the rooms are nice, and the staff are friendly. But my truck was broken into twice within two months. Teens come to this nicer area looking for firearms in vehicles. They have cameras, but I wish there were on-site security at night. I like the hotel, just too bad about the punk teenager criminals.

I booked through Priceline and paid extra per night for the option to cancel, since I wanted flexibility. I was surprised when I was charged right away, and when I tried to cancel and rebook two rooms instead of one large room, they told me I wouldn't get a full refund. That defeated the point of paying more for a flexible booking. Neither Priceline nor the hotel could help, and I've never had this happen before. After calling ahead despite the many bad reviews and being told things had improved, this was really disappointing. It made me consider canceling everything and finding another hotel. There was construction in the hallway where we stayed. Nobody told us until we arrived, and there was no discount. The work started early and continued loudly into the night. We were in room 210 on the second floor. The receptionist at check-in also kept acting like she couldn't hear or understand me. I had to repeat myself, and she kept ignoring me. When my boyfriend repeated what I'd said, her attitude changed and she focused on him instead. We grew up in the Midwest and don't have different accents; he has damaged vocal cords and I speak louder than he does. I was closer to her, too, so it seemed clear to me that she was ignoring me on purpose. It was disrespectful and unprofessional. I can speak for myself, even if my boyfriend is hot. And then there were things in the room that we couldn't explain. The remote flew across the room, and a drawer with the bible opened again and again. My boyfriend didn't feel safe after the remote went flying, and I had nightmares. At one point, something seemed to sit on the bed. My boyfriend couldn't lift his leg, and I couldn't lift the covers over an oval, circular spot that wouldn't move. It felt as if something was sitting there, leaning against him. We both felt warmth from that area. Then it seemed to move onto his leg, which got very hot; when I touched it, my hand felt pins and needles. There were strange shadows, too. The light by the door was on, but a shadow appeared in the middle of the lit doorway, as if something was near the entrance watching us.
