Motel 6 Commerce, GA

I know what to expect at a budget motel and don't expect a perfect room. I've stayed at plenty of Motel 6s with my dog, and I don't usually complain about a bit of noise or a room that isn't spotless. But this one had several issues that were just gross. The new “clean” bath mat had a brown handprint, several pillowcases looked stained with mildew, and the fridge smelled like rotten food. I was glad I brought my own pillow because I didn't want my face on one of those cases. I barely slept. The motel is beside gas stations and vape shops, with one gas station directly across from the guest rooms on the left side of the building. Music blared all night, engines revved and backfired, and people yelled. At first the backfires scared me because they sounded like gunshots. The curtain left about a 1/2in gap, so fluorescent neon light from the stations came right in. I know the motel can't control the businesses nearby, but people should know what it's like. The friendly front desk woman made check-in easy, but that was about the only positive. The dirty stains and awful smell, together with the location and poor curtain, made it impossible to rest. I have one more night booked, but I'm thinking of moving to another dog friendly hotel down the street.
