Residence Inn by Marriott Concord

The room was pretty standard, but at more than $300 a night I expected a lot more. The shower head and water pressure in our camper are better than what this hotel had. For this level of quality, I would have expected something closer to $150. It definitely wasn’t worth $300 a night.

We were there for a nearby softball tournament, and the elevators only worked on and off. With several families and other guests staying there, that was a big problem. We had to haul all our luggage and equipment up multiple flights of stairs. The room cleanliness was not acceptable. While making up the pullout couch, we found multiple stains all over the mattress. The extra pillow in the closet was stained too, which should have been caught during inspection. There was hair stuck all over the bathroom door and nasty-looking drip marks. High-touch spots like cabinet handles, doorknobs, and the microwave handle were visibly not wiped down. I wouldn’t stay again, and the rooms need better cleanliness checks.

There was a blood stain on the couch mattress, about half the size of the bed, and it had soaked through so I couldn’t flip it over. After we reported it, they gave us a rollaway. I hope they replace that mattress. There was also a blood spot on the shower wall that looked like someone had died there.

Everyone on staff I’ve dealt with has been great, and it’s not a bad hotel. But I’ve stayed at a lot of Residence Inns around the country, and this one is well below the better ones in the chain. I’m five days into a 21-day stay and the elevator hasn’t worked once. It doesn’t rank among the best Marriott Residence Inns I know.
