Executive Residency by Best Western Corpus Christi

We’ve stayed at this hotel every time we come to Corpus Christi, but this is our last visit. The room had too few wash rugs, towels, and hand soap, and the dishes were very dirty when we arrived yesterday. Breakfast this morning was awful. There was no food in the warming pans, no variety of hot options, and no milk. A lot of guests were frustrated early in the day, and we’re here until tomorrow, so I hope the staff and manager do better. The manager needs to do a better job and speak properly with the workers so they serve guests well. This stay was the worst.

The quick elevators and great coffee machine were highlights on my earlier stay, but my recent visit has ended my loyalty to this property. As a Diamond Select member, I called to ask for late checkout, a benefit I’d earned. Nobody checked my status before charging me $25. I had to insist they look at my profile before they waived the fee, and the confirmation I got was just a dismissive “uh-huh.” The detached attitude I’d noticed months ago in the breakfast area seems to have spread to the front desk. After the privacy issues from my last stay and this lack of courtesy, I’ve contacted corporate about compensation. On that earlier visit, the bedrooms were generally fine, but the large bed had only four small pillows, which made it hard to get comfortable. The pool looked a bit dirty and the grills were filthy. The free Nescafé machine had lots of choices and was much appreciated. The elevators were unusually fast and efficient for Corpus Christi, which saved time. Breakfast service varied a lot. On the first morning, the man in charge spent time on his phone or watching TV instead of replenishing food. When I mentioned the bacon was gone, he said more was cooking. After 15 minutes, only a small amount came out and it quickly disappeared as more guests arrived. The women working breakfast on the other days were welcoming, hardworking, and kept everything stocked. Their cheerful “Good morning” was a big contrast. My biggest concern was the daily knocking to check the air vent for leaks, even when I had a “Do Not Disturb” sign up. They did it every day. These checks should happen when a room is vacant or after checkout, and staff shouldn’t open the door from outside after a few unanswered knocks unless it’s a real emergency. I always use a door stopper, but the practice seriously affected my privacy and comfort.

Nothing to complain about here. The room, pool, and everything else were top notch, and the kitchenette is a must. It was very clean and well maintained, exactly as advertised. I’d give it 10 out of 10 and recommend it. I’ll leave a few photos of the areas outside the room.

The staff were great, but the facilities are in severe decline, so I’d stay somewhere else and save yourself a headache. The lobby furniture was filthy, the bar is permanently closed, and breakfast has gone downhill from what it was on earlier visits. This time it was powdered eggs, cold potatoes, and lukewarm turkey sausage. There are new owners, and the property seems to be getting worse. I was there four days. The room was decent overall, but I found a couple of roaches in the drawers and closet. The sink had almost no pressure, just a slow trickle of hot water, and the shower head needed replacing. The AC smelled moldy and rattled horribly. On the last night, the fire alarm light started going off without any sound.
