The room was clean and had space for six people. For an $80 hotel suite, we couldn’t have asked for more. Breakfast was better than we expected.

The location in the middle of Cortez made it easy to get around, and check-in was simple. The room was clean, too. But I had the worst hotel sleep I can remember. You could hear everything in the hallway and even conversations across from us, as if they were in our bathroom. Housekeeping knocking on a door sounded like they were at ours, and someone leaving at 4 a.m. sounded like they were walking through our room. Don’t count on sleeping past 5 or 6, and hope there aren’t 2 a.m. check-ins. The bed wasn’t very comfortable, and the pillows were small for a king. The AC was so loud, even on low, it sounded like a semi idling in the corner. Parking for the rooms at the back was limited, so we had to park about 200 feet away and walk uphill to our building. If you’re a light or even average sleeper, this place may be rough.

The staff at the front desk and breakfast were very nice and helpful, and the room was clean. I didn’t see any bugs, either. Still, I’m surprised Choice hotels lets them use its brand. The place is three separate, run-down motel buildings with exterior corridors, and the bedding and beds are below par. A wardrobe blocks most of the air from the window AC, which is mounted through the wall and struggles to cool the room. There’s no fan. If you run the microwave while the AC is on and anything else is plugged in, the breaker can trip and cut power to three rooms. The breakers are just down the hall, so you can go flip them back on. Breakfast was below par, too. They only service your room if you ask.

The room was quiet and a good deal for the price. Staff were nice, breakfast was good, and a kind lady made us a hot meal.

A pretty nice place to rest. I liked the pool and even dipped my feet in, though its shape seems to make it hard to clean. The fire arch over the water was a nice touch.
