Baymont by Wyndham Covington

The shower itself looked nicely remodeled, but the floor was nasty enough that I only noticed when I dropped my soap. Housekeeping could turn the place into a dump quickly. I also found stains on the bedding, and the white linens smelled like they'd sat wet in the washer for days. Bleach might help. A damp towel I'd left on the floor after a shower looked filthy underneath when I picked it up the next morning, after standing on it to brush my teeth and shave. The door needs adjustment and new weatherstripping too, since there was a huge gap where light came through. This costs a lot for what you get. The hotel seems to be trying to match the nicer nearby places, but housekeeping and maintenance fall short. I paid $214 after tax for two nights, arriving Wednesday, when occupancy looked pretty good with only about four parking spaces left. The owners should have staff deep clean at least two rooms a day alongside regular work, then have maintenance follow up with paint and basic checks: toilet seats, towel bars, locks, smoke detectors, leaks, appliances and TVs. Even a couple extra paid hours for two housekeepers each day could be small compared with the damage to the property and its reputation. I hope the owners act on this. Your staff needs that money more than you need a new Mercedes. Don't charge like the area's big hotels when the place isn't competing at that level yet. Remodeling only goes so far; upkeep matters.

At 3 a.m. I was in a room at the back of the hotel, still hearing loud music from the front. The room phone didn't work, so I called from my cell to complain and was told they couldn't hear anything. I opened my door and asked if they could hear it then. The person came out of the office and dealt with it, but by then I was wide awake. I'd avoid this place.

Just a run-of-the-mill hotel. The free breakfast was extremely limited, with no hot food. During all five days I was there, my room never had hot shower water. It also got a little noisy at night.

I had to make a quick plan to attend a wedding in Social Circle, so I chose Baymont by Wyndham and was very pleased with that decision. The room was clean and nicely appointed, and the location was great. Thanks for everything!
