La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Covington

The rates were favorable, especially for a stay of several nights, and I’ll definitely recommend this hotel to out-of-town guests. It was clean and well appointed, with a beautiful mezzanine. Breakfast was always hot and well stocked. The staff were efficient and friendly, our cleaning lady was accommodating, and the breakfast attendant always greeted us with a smile. It was handy having laundry facilities with a TV seating area nearby.

Breakfast was good, and the dining room staff were friendly. But a large live brown spider was in the bathtub the next morning, and I’m glad it didn’t bite my dog or anyone in my family. I also paid a nonrefundable pet fee for my toy-size dog, in addition to the $50 deposit required of all guests. The manager, Meek, says the deposit hasn’t been refunded because dog feces was found on the floor. That is completely untrue. My husband and I inspected the room carefully before leaving. We put the used towels together in the bathroom, emptied the hotel bins into our own large garbage bag, wiped the hard surfaces, and checked the floor and the rest of the room. We found nothing. I carry a black blanket for my dog to lie on. The young woman on duty at check-in acted strangely when we mentioned bringing a dog, which I thought was odd. The total was $180 for one Thursday night, including the taxes and pet fee. With the still-unreturned deposit, it comes to $230. I’m contesting that deposit and will contact corporate and my credit card company, with photos documenting the condition we left the room in. I’ve since read that other guests have had trouble getting deposits back, though not for the reason I was given or because of pets. We usually choose LaQuintas since most are pet friendly, and have never had an issue with the way we leave a room. I saw only one other guest getting coffee at breakfast.

The beds were extremely comfortable, and we’ll definitely stay again. The location was close to everything, the rooms were big and clean, and breakfast was great. We did have trouble understanding each other at the front desk, which caused a little tension. The walls were thin, and footsteps in the hallway echoed into the room.

The location is perfect, and the room was nice and clean. Service was great too. I asked for more towels and got them without any trouble.
