We'd chosen this place because the location worked for us, but we would not recommend it. We arrived at 9 p.m. and were told to park across the street during check-in. The employee gave us the daily rate and nothing else. Less than 12 hours later, we came out with our three young kids to find our car stolen. We hadn't left the keys in it. We only learned from the morning shift that the lot across the street isn't hotel parking, isn't monitored, and that there was a safer option in the parking structure. Staff told us the next day that break-ins and car thefts happen in that lot commonly. The hotel knows this, but the woman on duty hadn't mentioned it, so we had no idea. OnStar indicated the thief or thieves had disabled the tracking. We were stranded with three kids, and lost three car seats, a diaper bag, and other belongings. Worst of all, I had irreplaceable mementos from my mother, who passed away a couple of years ago. I can never get those back. I'm devastated and disappointed the hotel didn't tell us about the safer parking, especially since its own onsite parking can't fit anything bigger than compact vehicles. We'll never return. Anyone planning a stay should know how unsafe the area is, particularly if you drive a commonly stolen car.

Paul G was a great valet. We were rushing to leave, and he brought our vehicle promptly. We love staying here for hockey games, too. The rooms and service are so nice, and breakfast is great.

Paul G with the valet service is the man. We had a bad experience with the valet team before, and it really hurt our stay. This visit was completely different because he went above and beyond. Also, the guy has terrific hair.

The staff were helpful and respectful every time we spoke with them, and our room and the common areas were very clean. The building is old, but they've done a very good job updating the interior. The outside walkways, lobby, breakfast area, elevators, laundry area, and our room were all well maintained. Breakfast was okay. There was an AC issue we couldn't figure out. It seemed the thermostat had a motion sensor, and the room warmed up while we slept because it didn't detect movement. Everything else we needed was there. For us, the location was great: we could walk to the JFK memorial and American Airlines arena. We explored a bit and found it was best to head north toward the arena, where there are several restaurants. Right beside the hotel is a small pub called operators club, then a Hooters bar and grill, and farther along a row of restaurants and several bar & grills. Parking was the worst part. There is no free parking. The valet is run by a contractor, PMC, separate from the hotel. They were courteous enough, but don't expect help with luggage. The other option is a public lot across the street. We weren't sure of its terms, but I believe the front desk said you pay each time you come and go. We considered parking there, then changed our minds after the valet attendant said break-ins were common. Valet let us come and go without an extra fee. We have no general complaint about PMC staff or management, but our vehicle was damaged. At checkout, the valet dropped it off with the keys and left. I loaded up and drove away. About an hour outside Dallas, when we stopped for fuel, I noticed a white scuff on the driver-side rear bumper, about 4 by 4 inches. It wasn't there when we'd handed the vehicle over the previous afternoon. I don't know whether they hit something or someone hit my vehicle in the garage. I called the hotel, expecting them to direct me to the valet company, and that's exactly what happened. I called PMC, got no answer, and left a voicemail. They returned my call after a while. The manager I spoke with was empathetic and eager to help. He refunded the valet fees right away and filed a claim while we were on the phone, saying the company would investigate and get back to me. I didn't expect the world, but did expect the concern to be treated properly, and felt the manager did that. About 24 hours later the company responded, but it wasn't an attempt to investigate. They said I was on my own because I left without inspecting the vehicle first. I expected the claims department to try to wriggle out of it, but hoped they'd review the cameras. Maybe that was asking too much. I'm grateful to Mr Wolf for trying to do the right thing. I don't think the staff damaged it on purpose, but we'd bought the truck a month earlier, so it hurt to see. Check your vehicle before you leave or take your chances across the street. I'd definitely stay here again, though I'm not sure about valet.

Eileen is phenomenal: helpful, considerate, polite, and always sharing a genuine smile with guests. The staff in general are polite and helpful, and we'll absolutely stay here again. The hotel is in really good condition, and you can see the Dallas World Aquarium.
