Thompson Dallas, by Hyatt

Our company summit at the Thompson Dallas coincided with a massive ice and snow storm that practically shut down the city. We later learned the hotel was short-staffed because many employees couldn’t get in, and several people working on-site hadn’t gone home for days to keep things running. Even with the chaos outside, it was business as usual inside. The service never faltered, and the staff kept smiling through grueling conditions. Their grace under pressure lifted our team’s spirits despite flight cancellations and other disruptions. Every meal was fantastic, even with possible supply problems from the storm. All the restaurants stayed open and gave us a variety of cuisines when Uber Eats and DoorDash weren’t working. Thank you to the whole crew for taking such good care of us and making a huge sacrifice during the storm. You turned a potential logistical nightmare into a world-class experience. I’ll be back, sans storm!

We booked a suite at Thompson Dallas for Valentine’s Day, hoping for a romantic, special night, but it was honestly disappointing. The sheets had actual holes in them, not just small flaws, and the bathrobes were dirty. That completely killed the mood. For a hotel that presents itself as luxury, this just isn’t okay. Valentine’s Day should feel special. Instead, we felt frustrated and let down. Guests shouldn’t have to worry about basic cleanliness and attention to detail, especially on an important occasion. Really upsetting.

Jade at the front desk was top notch, with amazing customer service. Our first room had issues, and when we told her, she immediately got us another one. The valet attendants were amazing on arrival too. From Jade and valet to every associate at Thompson Dallas, we applaud the team. They made our stay great and deserve recognition. My wife and I are Hyatt members, and this is safely one of our favorite properties. We’ll be back. The downtown construction is expected with growth, so that wasn’t an issue for us. Getting to valet was nerve-wracking, though. There was heavy traffic, nowhere to pull off, and no awning. We had to sit in the roadway with the flashers on, hoping our supercar wouldn’t get hit. We made it through, but the approach could be better.

The rooms were nicer and more spacious than I expected, with enough decor to keep them from feeling like a generic hotel shell. My fiance and I came for our anniversary and loved our stay. The spa was serene, Catbird and the Daisy were great for food and drinks, and we found out the pool is heated. We’ll come back on our next trip.
