Room 108 was not worth $90. The first thing I saw was food and what looked like roach droppings along the baseboards, and the walls were dirty. The microwave was worn out but clean inside. Its stand was rotting at the bottom and leaning to one side. There was coffee mix but no coffee pot, which was really disappointing. In the bathroom, there was mold on the door frame and a pretty large hole in the shower where the support bar should’ve been. They’d put a PCP pipe there instead, but don’t try leaning on it. We were traveling with our babies from Montana. My curious three-year-old opened the fridge and found a still mostly full beer that had frozen. Two hours later, my 18-month-old threw the remote under the desk by the TV, and when I bent down to get it, there was a roach. The room didn’t look properly cleaned, maybe they just make the bed and put out fresh towels.

We booked online about two weeks ahead and picked up the room key as usual. When we checked the room, we found both dead and live roaches in the dresser drawers. We then went through the entire place, including the fridge, bedding, walls, couch, bathroom, and everything else. This needs serious deep cleaning and maintenance, or the place should shut down. Visible roaches in a low-cost room are still an infestation, and no one on vacation wants to travel only to find bugs in the room they reserved. It’s bad enough to report to the Better Business Bureau. I took pictures, and we won’t be back.

We hadn’t unpacked when we ended up back in our truck, trying to sleep instead of getting a hot shower. In the second room, the wall unit only went up to 36 degrees, just like the first room had heating problems. We’d moved far from our truck to the last room, and now we were leaving again. This happened during a snow and ice storm. They gave us two small heaters in case the room wasn’t warm enough, which should’ve been our first clue. Every outlet we tried made the fuses blow, three times. The toilet flapper also didn’t work right, so we had to reach into the tank after every use to shut it. The first room’s wall unit wasn’t warming the room at all and only went to 63 degrees, as if it had been set not to go any higher. Whyndum really needs to do a better job screening hotels owned by private people. It’s gone way downhill since the 80s.

We had no choice during the winter storm because everywhere else was full, and it was too cold to sleep in the car. The owner and his family live there. The whole place was dirty, smelled awful, and had stains on everything. Nothing seemed to have been cleaned. Just walking in the front door to check in made you want a shower. Don’t waste your money staying here.

Room 201 had bed bugs during the weekend of May 15th, 2026. Sleep in your car, pitch a tent, or go home. Do not stay here or you’ll get the bed bug treatment. Water was also leaking from the sink onto the floor, a real safety hazard. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
