Our bed had bedbugs, and I've never been bitten like that before. The rooms have an old, foul smell, and the bathrooms aren't very nice. The toilet wouldn't even flush. This place needs to be shut down. Zero out of ten, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone in the area.

It's old, but not nasty, and I've never lost a minute of sleep there. The Desert Sands has changed hands many times and seems to have been under renovation for at least 40 years of my life, yet it keeps going. The current owners promptly address concerns, and I'd assume they'd happily refund a purchase, though don't quote me, I've never had a reason to ask. Whether it's worth staying depends on what you're ready to spend for a night. Think of how many people might have been in that pink caddilac, nights kingdom, or whatever. The Desert Sands is definitely worth the price to me. To each his own!

I only stayed because I was stranded after my car was stolen. It felt like doing time on Maple Dr, like the title of a movie. The place is small, ancient, outdated everywhere, dirty and unpleasant, and not even affordable for a no tell motel. Management seems to watch every moment and guests aren’t allowed any visitors. I was offended when my son brought me my suitcase and the office called to say he had to leave after just three minutes. Every derelict in town seems to have nothing good to say about it. They need serious pest control and a proper cleaning service.

The Wi-Fi is absolutely horrible, and this place is really bad. There was trash under the bed, dead roaches in the fridge and microwave, and roaches in general. The bathroom door is broken and nasty, and the window isn’t even attached. These guys could do better, come on. How is this place open?

I haven’t seen a single bug, which is good. The bad thing was waking at 7am to find water flooding our bathroom from the room above us. I spoke with Tunney in that room. He said he’d look at it after going next door for cigarettes, and told me his bathroom had been leaking since he got there. I could hear the water running. It started as a fast drip but became a heavy stream, which a leak wouldn’t do. I haven’t reached the office yet. I tried calling but got no answer. I’ll edit after I do. My husband probably went back to sleep, so I’ll have to deal with it when I return from my doctor appointment.
