Hyatt Place Denver / Peña Station

The location and restaurant get four stars from me, though that steak was a $30 waste. The menu made the USDA 8 oz steak with rosemary and garlic sound great, but it was about a quarter inch thick with no rosemary or garlic flavor. The asparagus was good, but the fries were cold. The bartender was great and warned me, and I should’ve listened. I was there with a business partner and forgot to take pictures. Dinner on my second night was much better, and breakfast at the hotel was yummy. I also loved the $5 beer, wine, and drinks during happy hour from 4:30 to 6:30. There was a good range of breakfast options, and the hotel is beautifully decorated. My room was comfortable and clean, though being on the even side meant some highway noise. That could suit you, but I found it a bit annoying.

The facilities were nice, but I had a terrible overcharge experience. I asked for a late checkout and was told at the front desk that there’d be no extra fee if I left by 1:00. I was taking the airport shuttle at 1:00 anyway, so that worked perfectly. Then I saw an extra charge of nearly $90 on my card. When I called, they said housekeeping reported I was there past 2:00, which couldn’t be right since I was already at the airport. The hotel could check its cameras, and my name was on the 1:00 shuttle log, but the woman on the phone said she couldn’t do anything and clearly didn’t care. She told me to call another day. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone I care about.

The flatbread at happy hour was my favorite part of the stay, lol, and breakfast was good too. The room was huge, and reception was great. There was a scope you could look through at the different wall TV frames to see a “story.” The bathroom sink was somewhat clogged, which was disappointing, but we hardly spent time in the room, so it worked fine. My boyfriend treated me to this Valentine weekend trip. The location was excellent, and the airport shuttle was free.

We enjoyed a cocktail and dinner at the bar. My wedge salad was amazing, and the service was great. The lobby had a nice vibe, and our room was clean and comfortable with a great shower. The complimentary breakfast was a nice surprise before we headed out on our car-buying trip. I agreed to be the passenger princess as long as he booked us somewhere nice, and the posted photos match what you’ll find. The only downside I can think of is the $17 onsite parking. We saw street parking and an airport lot across from the hotel as we left, which might be a better option.
