The Source Hotel

The hotel’s rooftop heated plunge pool and hot tub overlooking the rookies were the highlight for us. It never got too crowded, and watching the sunset up there was great. We spent two nights here with my partner after our flight ban east was canceled in a big storm. We ate at Safta, one of the best meals I’ve had in Denver, and got drinks at Cimera with the $50 room credit. The rooftop cityscape panorama is incredible. The food looked good too, though it seemed on the expensive side. The hotel has great food options, but there aren’t many bars, restaurants, or entertainment spots right nearby. Larimer street is about a 15-minute walk, with more of RINOs offerings, or it’s a quick Uber. Our room was fine, with a very comfy bed and a nice tub. The industrial-chic feel, with cement walls and a renovated warehouse look, worked well. The main downside was nighttime noise on the mountain-view side. Both nights I woke around 2am to loud trucks and machinery at nearby sites, and I’m not sure what they were doing. The location was a refreshing change from downtown, which felt generic, full of conference-goers and fairly boring restaurants and cafes. Good value and a nice spot. I’d still recommend it over many other city hotels.

There are several places to eat onsite, though the restaurant on the 8th floor was so busy we couldn’t get a table and ate elsewhere. Plenty of places are also within walking distance, and the location is great. The hotel has a modern industrial feel, with nice rooms and Mountain View’s. Our king bed was really comfortable, and the rooftop hot tub was nice.

Getting out of The Source’s parking building was a frustrating mess. We left Safta coffee shop 15 minutes early to avoid the $8 second-hour charge, but congestion inside made it impossible. The parking layout and traffic flow are poorly designed, and management didn’t address our concerns. They seemed more interested in collecting high parking fees than making things better for customers or offering validation for people visiting the restaurants and shops. With the fees and parking trouble, I won’t return to the Source.

The building is gorgeous and full of big trees and plants. It really felt like an indoor jungle. We didn’t end up staying because the wait was an hour, but it was Saturday night, so that’s understandable. I can’t comment on the food or service, though we’re looking forward to coming back one day, probably during the week when it’s less busy. There’s a garage right underneath, and other parking is close by. The elevator doors open right into the building. Location: 5/5.
