The room was clean, which helped while we were sleeping in hoodies, but the stay was rough. We came during temperatures of -30 to -40°, and the room stayed at a refreshing 62-63°, with frost on the walls. The pool was out of commission, which was why we booked. Breakfast amounted to cereal and a few bars. And whenever we left, the room key stopped working, so we had to walk back to the office at least twice a day to get it reprogrammed. If indoor Arctic camping with extra cardio sounds good, this is your place.

For an affordable hotel, I had a mostly positive stay. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, and the cooler temperature actually helped me sleep. Breakfast was very good, even if it didn't come close to the impressive lobby photos. Getting into the hotel was less pleasant: the entry keys didn't work as expected, and I was told it's a known problem. A staff member came promptly to help, though you might have to shove your way in and hope for the best. The heating was also sketchy, and I'm pretty sure the bathroom floor was 30° this time of year. These problems may be less noticeable in summer, when people usually travel, and they're easy enough to overlook.

They helped us fix the room date after my daughter misbooked it, and I give that help five plus. Still, both the outside entry door handles and the handles on the inside hotel walkway doors were falling off. That made it hard to feel comfortable or safe.

The staff we met were absolutely wonderful, and the lobby was beautifully decorated. They welcomed us warmly and were kind. But for over $200, this place needs serious help. Although it's advertised as smoke free, weed smell greeted us every time we got off the elevator or went in and out of our room. Our room was warm, so we switched on the AC before bed. In the morning, dirt and dust had built up on the unit and its filter. There was a huge cobweb on the curtain valance, and the bed frames and art frames were dusty too. A musty smell came from the bathroom plumbing door beside one of the beds, and I suspect it may be harboring mold. Housekeeping never made the beds or tidied up during our stay. The WiFi didn't work in our room for either of our two nights. The carpet was very dirty and needs a good shampooing. The pool area was just as disappointing. The advertised kiddie pool area has been removed and filled with pavers. The waterslide needs scrubbing and better maintenance, with four piles of sand at the bottom, perhaps left by a beachgoer over the summer. The pool was ice cold and green, and its bottom looked as if it hadn't been scrubbed or maintained properly in years. The hot tub was lukewarm and dirty, with broken jets, sand in the bottom corners, and dead box elder bugs floating in it. When I went to throw something away, I saw four empty bleach bottles in the trash. Is that what they use as pool chemicals? Yikes. The entrance doors are supposed to require a room key card, but they don't lock, so anyone can get in.

The bed was the one great part of the room, it was comfy. The room itself was okay, though the sink was cracked and the carpet seemed like it needed a deep clean. The outside of the rooms was disgusting. Breakfast was a bunch of lousy convenience store food, and the water for tea or coffee wasn't even hot.
