The staff we spoke with seemed very nice, and fortunately we didn’t encounter any bugs. We were in town for a show at the Filmore and, since we live far away, wanted a cheap place for the night. We booked through hotels.com and had to pay a deposit. We had to specifically ask for it back, or they weren’t going to mention it at checkout. Our room was on the top floor. The metal stairs were rusty and rotting, and flexed underfoot. The people next door blasted their TV all night, with loud slamming too. The bathroom clearly hadn’t been cleaned, and the TV had no sound on half of the few available channels. The dresser and TV stand were so close to the bed that you had to climb over the bed or squeeze through slowly. Online, I found the room cost about $100 less than what we paid. If you’re in a pinch, it might do, but we won’t come back.
The rooms are small, so I wouldn’t choose this place if I planned to spend much time in the room. For a weekend where you’re mostly out, though, the location is great. I stayed from Saturday until about 4 a.m. Monday. It was small but clean, and having a fridge and microwave was useful for leftovers. I believe all rooms have showers rather than bathtubs, which I consider a plus. I bring shower shoes for sanitary reasons. The location is affordable, near the Riverwalk, and offers shuttle service on Fridays and Saturdays within a three-mile radius. That was helpful and saved money, and the shuttle can get you to the heart of Downtown Detroit. There’s continental breakfast, plus a popular restaurant next door. If you’re just in town to sleep, shower, and have a good time without trying to impress anyone, I’d stay here again. Hope this helps.
The room was on the small side, especially for a big guy like me, but it was clean, comfortable, and suited me well. The bathroom was clean and well equipped, and there was a desk and working WiFi. I do wish the bed were bigger. Breakfast was okay. I was in town for a few days for a conference, and this Quality Inn met my needs. The staff were friendly and capable. Moe went above and beyond by helping me understand the bus system. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, downtown attractions are a quick walk away, and the beautiful Riverwalk was easy to reach. You know you’re not paying for luxury at a Quality Inn, and you know what you’re getting.
Free parking and a close location to things are about all this place has going for it. Even with no charge for downtown parking, you’d be better off looking for a suburban hotel with a shuttle. The security deposit was ridiculous, especially since there was hair in the shower when I arrived. There was no vent for heat or AC, just a window unit for AC. The TV didn’t work at all, and the front desk at a different Choice Hotel had no real solution when I spoke to them. This place was a complete crapshoot. I’ll probably plan travel ahead better and stick to Hilton or Marriott from now on. I might add more photos later, but I doubt I’ll get any recourse. Be warned.
This place is a poorly run motel, not a hotel. I checked out because it was so filthy I couldn’t get comfortable, and I lost money but didn’t care. The room and bed were small, with the bed more like a twin. There was no elevator, the door barely latched, and the lock didn’t feel secure. The advertised pictures were false. The furniture was dusty and dirty, and the ice bucket lid had some kind of sauce stain. There was feces on the bathroom wall, a slippery film on the floor, and hair in the bed. The shower was dirty, carpet was coming up at the corners, and there was trash on the floor behind the bed. The bathroom door had a large gap underneath. Breakfast was awful, just one tiny muffin, some bagels, and cereal. The place is also really badly situated.
