My family stayed at this facility during a visit, and the experience was extremely disappointing. I had booked and paid for a studio, but was given a completely different room type. When I raised the mistake with staff, they did nothing to fix it, setting a poor tone for the stay. The property felt neglected and poorly maintained. The room and common areas weren't properly cleaned. People were urinating outside by the entrance, and the lobby smelled strongly of marijuana. Inside, paint was chipped on the walls. At checkout, things became even more uncomfortable. At 9:45 a.m., while I was still packing, a man knocked and said I had already checked out. I explained I'd arranged to leave at noon. In the lobby, another staff member said checkout was at 11:00 a.m. When I asked why someone had pressured me to leave more than an hour before that, I got no reasonable explanation. It felt aggressive, unprofessional, and unnecessary. The stay absolutely wasn't worth the cost. Guests should be able to expect the room they paid for, a clean and safe environment, and basic respect. This property failed on all counts, and I'd strongly discourage anyone from booking it.

I loved this place, even if saying so feels lame. It was the best deal in town. Sonder abruptly went out of business in November 2025, filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and liquidating after Marriott International ended its licensing agreement. That forced an immediate global shutdown, leaving guests stranded. The company had struggled financially for years and faced integration problems with Marriott's systems, then couldn't secure more funding. Marriott ended the partnership on November 9, 2025, citing major integration issues and costs. Sonder announced that it would stop operating immediately and pursue Chapter 7 liquidation. Thousands of guests were ejected from their stays when booked properties suddenly closed.

We came for the Detroit Free Press Marathon, and the location was ideal, with the 9 mile mark right outside. We had a studio on the 9th floor, which was okay. Everything else in the room was fine, though one plate hadn't been fully cleaned. The shower is extremely small, with hardly any space to move around. I had mixed feelings after reading the reviews about Sonder. As people have said, there are a lot of homeless people around the area. The parking lot across the street had in and out privileges, which worked well. There weren't many restaurant choices nearby, but we made do. For the price, it was a good stay, and we'll likely return.

The room was extremely clean, and the cleaning crew was meticulous, doing a lot of deep cleaning during my stay. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the hotel was easy to find. I booked a city view and was put on the 3rd floor. The views were great, but the street noise was a lot to deal with. I'd stay again, but request a higher floor.
