The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit

We had a great stay at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit. The historic building is beautiful, and the rooms were comfortable, clean, and well kept. Service was excellent, and the downtown location was great. I'd definitely stay again.

We had a terrific family weekend at the Westin Book Cadillac Detroit, with our grandchildren along. The staff were very accommodating, and dinner at Sullivan's steak house was a highlight. There was a jazz duo on the first night and a trio on the second, which made for a terrific vibe. We recommend it and will be back. We're bonvoy members who stay at quite a few Westins, Marriotts, and JW Marriotts, and I'd put the Book up there with all of them.

I had a humiliating and shocking experience at The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit. The hotel claims five-star status, but my interaction showed very little professionalism or respect. I went based on its name, history, and reputation, hoping to book for January 1, 2026, which is the most important day of my life. I was only making a simple inquiry before booking. When I asked if I could see the rooms first, I was bluntly told to leave. The employee also said, “You’re trying to book a hotel at 6 a.m.?” That wasn't a joke or a misunderstanding, and it wasn't professional. It was outright disrespectful, and embarrassing coming from someone representing a hotel with the Westin name. The time I visited doesn't justify that attitude, especially when I was planning to book well in advance for 1/1/2026. Since when should the time of a question be a reason to belittle a guest? If this is the first impression, trust is gone. If someone asking about a presidential suite is treated this way, I can only imagine how others are treated. This wasn't just a bad experience, it seriously damaged the hotel's credibility. It has a big name and a historic building, but the service doesn't match either. I'd strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to think twice.

The staff were fantastic, and the room stayed quiet enough for me to get some work done. I also really like the beds and pillows here, and this time I had a large room with great heating and cooling. The Westin Cadillac is right in the middle of the city, so on a nice day it’s easy to walk to sporting events and plenty of good food. I tried calling for room service but nobody answered, so I went down to the bar to get a menu and pick up my order. It wasn’t too busy, and the food was ready without much of a wait. I’d definitely recommend staying here.
