Atlantic View Hotel

We had three people and the room worked perfectly, with very comfortable beds and a great balcony. The hotel felt fancy, and we liked the ocean view, though some balconies face the parking lot. Breakfast was free and the sandwiches were really good. They also served warm cookies at 8pm and wine and shrimp at 5pm for guests 21 and over. The pool is small and intimate, but it isn't heated, so it wasn't great in chilly weather.

Cute place, clean, and the staff were friendly. We liked the private balcony's ocean view and the path down to the beach. Breakfast had a nice range, though it wasn't very filling, and we enjoyed the beer at 5pm social hour and snacks at 8pm. The nearby restaurants and bars are an easy walk away. A few things were odd or inconvenient: bins in the room had no bags, the fridge was smaller than at most hotels I've used, and there was no microwave. Parking spaces are tight, especially the end ones if you have a larger car. Also, sleeping in is tough. We were near the stairs and heard people slamming doors early, so it gets really loud. Still a nice choice for a short getaway.

After we parked, we didn't need the car again. Dewey Brewing Company, Starboard, and other restaurants are an easy walk, and we saw dolphins from our balcony. I even found sea glass on the beach right in front. We liked the deck and lobby hangout areas, the poolside lounge chairs, and music outside. There are free beach chairs to borrow, draft beer and hot hors d’oeuvres in the lobby at 5pm, and warm cookies at 8pm. Our oceanfront room was just what we booked and was ready on time. It was clean and matched the photos, with beds comfortable enough that I slept like a baby. We could hear the waves and watch sunrise from bed, and the in-room Nespresso machine was fantastic. There was also lobby coffee and a full complimentary breakfast. Jason at the front desk was friendly and got us checked in quickly. The remodeled hotel is a hidden gem with plenty of free on-site parking. One thing to know: there's no elevator. If stairs are a problem, book a first-floor dune-view room with the larger private deck. And don't bring the kids if they need a sofa bed or rollaway, since the hotel doesn't have either.

The place smells great, and I like the personal touches, especially the free beer and snacks and the warm cookies in the evening. The sausage, egg, and cheese biscuits were delicious, and the rooms felt clean and fairly new. It's a small hotel right on the beach, and they're clearly trying hard. The walls and ceilings let through every sound, though, and the TV couldn't get loud enough to beat the AC. The balcony is tiny, and sitting on the toilet knocks the toilet paper off its holder. I'd stay again for the location.
