SpringHill Suites by Marriott Miami Doral

I stayed here for about two weeks and was comfortable the whole time. SpringHill Suites properties tend to be dependable in my experience as a frequent traveler, with rooms that are pretty much copies of each other and consistently feel new and well done. The staff were friendly and attentive, my room was immaculate, and free parking was chef’s kiss. Breakfast in the lobby was basic but reliably good each day, and the coffee there was actually good and available 24/7. There was just one working elevator throughout my stay. Housekeeping came every other day, though you could request it daily by calling the desk each time. All in all, I recommend this place for anything from an overnight to a stay of several weeks.

The room was quiet even though we were on the first floor, and the free breakfast and nice-looking pool were good points. Free parking was a real bonus. But the desk divider shown in the pictures wasn’t in our room. When we raised it with the front desk, they said all the rooms lacked one and the online photos were wrong. Then we passed another room with its door open and saw the divider there. We ended up hanging a blanket to separate the room. The lighting was poor, the deadbolt was broken, and the room smelled musty. Overall, it was just okay. Book at your own risk, since it’s unclear which rooms have the divider.

The staff made us feel very welcome, and they’d left a personal note and dessert in the room. The hotel was clean, nicely prepared for our arrival, and conveniently located near the highway. I’ll stay here again when I’m in the area for work. Thank you for the warm welcome.

For what I paid, I felt scammed. The room never got fresh air, so it started to smell, and the TV’s Netflix app didn’t work at times. The room wasn’t properly cleaned: no proper blanket sheets and no vacuuming. Breakfast was a disaster, too crowded, and fresh food took so long that we skipped breakfast three times. If the hotel can’t handle this many bookings, it shouldn’t offer breakfast. Next time, I’d stay in an Airbnb and get breakfast from a bakery or supermarket instead, which would be much cheaper.
