Hotel LaBonte

The decor was lovely, and the place was clean. There's a great restaurant downstairs. The art and the shower curtain fell down, but I'd stay here again.

I needed a room at the last minute and expected to arrive after midnight. They were very helpful on the phone and texted me the entry code for after hours since the desk isn't staffed overnight. The room was clean and comfortable, and parking was easy. I'd definitely stay again.

The attached bar was decent and seems to be a regular hangout for locals, so it was hard to get anyone's attention for service. There wasn't much nearby, though the area wasn't too bad. Our room looked out over an outdoor tiki bar, which thankfully wasn't open. I imagine the noise would've kept us awake if it had been. We got a text with our room and door code when we arrived, which was helpful, but be aware the hotel isn't always staffed. The room was neat and clean, about what I expected from an older building, but the TV didn't work. A note said to ask the bartenders or text the help number. We were told maintenance doesn't work weekends, so we'd have to manage for the night. We were only staying one night and asked to move. After some troubleshooting tips by text, they eventually sent another room number and door code. We stayed because Labonte is a family name, but if I'd known, we would've skipped it.

We stopped for a night in June while driving the Oregon Trail. The hotel had lots of character, and I enjoyed its history and charm. We checked in online, then met the manager the next day and had a really nice visit with her. I'd definitely recommend staying here if you like places with history and charm.
