The Suites Hotel at Waterfront Plaza

The elevator felt very secure since you need your room key just to open it from the main floor. We booked a Jacuzzi suite and thought it was worth every dime. The tub was huge, easily roomy enough for four, though there were just two of us, so it was incredibly comfortable. The room was listed as having no window, but it did have one. The historic building has an industrial look, with pillars running right through our room. We thought that was pretty cool.

For the price, I expected at least a warm room. It stayed below 58⁰ all weekend, and nobody did anything about it. There were dirty socks and underwear in the couch, too. Did anyone check the room? I could see lotion and drips all over the walls. I expected better and wish I’d stayed at a BestWestern.

The pool and jacuzzi area were wonderful, with comfortable climate control that worked well for therapy, kids swimming, or just floating and relaxing. There are a few stairs on the parking-lot side, but the opposite entrance has handicap access. I’m here for several days, and the location works well. It’s not right on the water, though healthy walkers can get to several places in different directions. Parking on the street is close and convenient. I haven’t tried every amenity, but the hot breakfast is good, as are the juice and coffee.

Check-in was at 4, but we were told the room wasn’t ready because they were short staffed. We waited three hours and asked staff several times without getting help. We watched several other groups get upset and leave. Eventually they said they’d upgrade us because of the delay. I can’t imagine how bad the original room must have been, given what we got. The room was filthy and run down. There was thick black dust on the vents and fan blades, the bathroom walls were rotting, and the tub drain wouldn’t open. We had only one roll of toilet paper, and one toilet ran constantly. The microwave was dirty inside and didn’t work, and the TV wouldn’t turn on. There were bloodstains on the curtains. This was the dirtiest hotel I’ve stayed at. Save your money and go elsewhere.
