The staff really made the difference. You could tell they worked well together, and the breakfast was well looked after. The whole place smelled great and was clean. The pool was clean too, and not over-chlorinated like at many other places. I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely stay here again.

We had a great experience and would absolutely come back. The location worked well for everything we had planned, and Duluth isn’t huge, so the farthest trip to anything is about 30m. The staff were helpful, the place was very clean, and the hot breakfast was great. The only hiccup was getting the room temperature right. The thermostat was easy to use, but it went from too hot to too cold quickly. There was a wicked draft under the wall unit, which probably didn’t help. Still, it was a pretty minor inconvenience :)

The front desk staff were nice, and check-in and checkout were quick and easy. The gym was decent, and the hot and cold water station by it was great. But this didn’t feel like a hotel for adults without kids or dogs, and we won’t be back. Dogs barked and woke us constantly one morning, while kids filled the pool and hot tub so we couldn’t use them. It would’ve helped to have dog-friendly wings and adult-only pool and hot tub times. Breakfast was pretty sad, so we skipped it. The bed wasn’t comfortable, and the room floors could’ve been cleaner. We could also have used extra towel sets and more than one extra roll of toilet paper for a stay longer than one night.

Winter rates are very affordable, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I usually book a suite so there’s room to relax, and it’s always clean and neat. The motel is near all the shops I regularly visit. I highly recommend La Quinta Inn and Suites.
