Homewood Suites by Hilton Durham-Chapel Hill / I-40

Clean sheets matter a lot to me, especially since I can’t stand that sticky, gross feeling or strange residue. I’ve never slept on cleaner sheets. The whole place was so clean, and the staff were great and really friendly.

We’ve stayed here twice now, and the first visit was great too. The room was really nice and clean, and it’s easy to get to. Imani at the front desk was awesome, very friendly and helpful, and made sure my discounts were applied correctly. We’ll be back!

I wish I could give this hotel zero stars. We checked into room 129 and left right away. As soon as we turned on the lights, roaches were crawling on the wall and bathroom sink. There was also a loud noise coming from the ceiling. I’ve only encountered roaches at Homewood Suites, once in GA and now here in Chapel Hill. This was a horrible surprise in such an upscale area. The receptionist was nice and offered another room, but roaches travel, so that wasn’t an option for us. I won’t choose Homewood Suites again. Please fix this for future customers.

After the owner responded, it became clear the explanation was that another group might hold a citywide event, though its date wasn’t set. That’s apparently why they’ll make April weekends unavailable, even though the event isn’t firm. Other places nearby are willing to book us, so we’ll stay at Staybridge this year and hope management is more accommodating in the future. My group has come here for our April weekend reunion for years, usually Friday through Sunday. This year, there were no weekends available in April, for reasons they couldn’t explain, while weekends in March and May were open. Two nights of business are better than none. How fortunate the other local sites can accommodate us without that kind of dimwitted reasoning.
