Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club

Breakfast was amazing, and we really enjoyed dinner in the dining room too. The breakfast chef was a favorite. Everyone on staff was wonderful and took care of all our needs, including the shuttle service. Loved the antique, luxurious feel of the hotel. We’d gladly stay again next time we’re in Durham.

Nicole made us feel welcome at lunch, and she was friendly and attentive. The food was excellent, and aside from one moment we truly enjoyed the visit. We’re in town for tomorrow’s Duke basketball game and stopped at the Washington Duke with my sons, though we aren’t staying there. While we were eating, a man who looked like a manager, wearing a suit behind the bar, was loudly using profanity where my children could hear. That wasn’t what I expected in an upscale, family-friendly setting. I hope management addresses it so families can have the experience they expect at such a well-regarded place.

Kayla was especially kind and helpful at Friday night’s event, as was one person involved on Saturday evening. The front entrance staff who opened doors and handled valet were also very nice. The service in the bar and Vista Room was exceptional, and the wait staff were wonderful. I’ve just come home from a two-day weekend wedding event held mostly at the WD hotel, apart from the service and rehearsal dinner. The welcome party Friday and Saturday’s post-wedding events were both wonderful, with pleasant staff and supreme service throughout. The upgrades still keep the traditional elegance while feeling updated. It’s a lovely place to stay and spend time, and I look forward to enjoying another weekend there.

One small touch I loved was the daily note with the weekly weather forecast. It felt thoughtful and charming, like so much of the personal, warm service. From beginning to end, the stay felt refined, welcoming, and full of character. I came for a wedding at Duke Chapel, and Washington Duke Inn made the weekend feel even more special. The grounds are beautiful, green, and peaceful, perfect for a morning walk or quiet coffee. It’s right by Duke University and close to Sarah P. Duke Gardens, with downtown Durham restaurants and nightlife just a short drive away. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, and room service was fantastic after a long day of celebrating. The hotel blends elegance and comfort with Southern charm. I’d happily come for a wedding, campus visit, or relaxing getaway.
