Super 8 Eagle River

We could walk to several different places to eat, and the hotel's location was really convenient. Our room was very clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. After a day of hiking, the warm pool and great hot tub felt especially good. We'll definitely be back.

We paid $180 a night, which felt overpriced for what we got. The rooms were filthy and very dated, with damp floors and mold in the bathroom. The lawn was overgrown, the picnic table was broken, and the back door to that area never locked, so anyone could come and go. We arrived as a group of 10 with five rooms booked by phone three weeks earlier, but there were no reservations held. They did have vacancies and managed to give us five rooms. The woman at the front desk was very rude.

It ruined our weekend. After finding bed bugs last weekend, we had to strip off in a freezing garage and quarantine our belongings to make sure we didn't bring any with us. We were lucky to have somewhere else to stay, 30 min away. This seems to be an ongoing problem at the property. The staff are very nice, and I feel bad that they have to deal with it, but the owners need to do something because whatever they're doing isn't working. There are new mattresses, but everything else is old and beat up, with places for bed bugs to hide. Don't assume a room is safe just because the heat is turned all the way up. Bed bugs don't like heat, but that won't kill them. I'd advise staying somewhere else.

The continental breakfast could be fresher and have more choices, so it's about 3.5 stars for us. Still, we'd stay again. The staff were accommodating, and Betty Jo made sure we could keep the same room for all 4 nights after we got in that day. Our room was nice. The toilet seat was cracked, and although we said we could wait until morning instead of moving rooms, a brand new seat had been put in by the time we got back from shopping.
