SpringHill Suites Easton PA

It’s a convenient stopover, though a little out of the way for Easton. The rooms are spacious, almost like small suites, with the beds separated from the sitting area by a desk and a sofa. I liked the bathroom setup, especially the separate shower stall instead of a tub. But the mattresses were awful. The lighting was odd too: you can switch off the bedside lights at the door, or leave that switch on and turn off the light by your bed, but then the other lights come on when they sense movement. That arrangement wasn’t ideal.

I’ve been here three times in the past six weeks. Each room was spacious, clean, and quiet. The breakfast buffet had plenty of tasty choices, and the staff were welcoming, friendly, and accommodating.

The hotel was clean and the rooms were nice, but the customer service was awful. We booked through booking.com with a confirmed noon checkout and a pet, yet the hotel had no notice about the pet and charged us another $100. The hotel was full for a youth hockey tournament, and the guests were very loud. Our kids were almost asleep when people ran down the hall, slammed doors, and yelled. It kept going until 1:30 a.m., when we opened the door and asked them to quiet down. That noise wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but it added to an already bad stay. There was a snowstorm the next morning, and we’d planned around the noon checkout shown in my email. At around 10, I got a receipt listing checkout at 11. The front desk refused to honor noon, saying it was booking.com’s policy, even after I offered to show the email. A hotel chain that accepts third-party bookings should communicate with those sites and take responsibility. I contacted booking.com; they called the hotel, and I was told someone would get back to me. We left by 11, then at 12:12 p.m. I received an email saying they would have allowed noon checkout. It was ridiculous and the worst customer service we’ve ever had. We were three hours from home looking at houses to buy, and this experience confirmed how we feel about the area. Very disappointing for Springhill Suites, where we usually stay when traveling.

The bathroom was great, with a nice shower, separate sink and toilet, and enough space to feel comfortable. My two-queen room had only a mini fridge, and the rooms felt tight compared with other chains. Still, it worked fine for my two-night stay.
