Travelodge Atlantic City Bayside

The rooms are generous in size, the staff are friendly, and being right on the bay is a nice spot to unwind after a night of losing your money. My buddy and I stayed twice, in November 2010 and October 2011. Despite the bad things people had said about it in recent years, I didn't think the criticism was deserved. For the price, it was great, and I'd happily stay again. It's about ten minutes from the boardwalk, with a free shuttle there. They also work with a luck-of-the-draw company that offers rides for a flat $20. We got picked up in a nearby limo for that fare and arrived in style.

The room was clean throughout, with two double beds, a big bathroom and closet, and a lovely view over the marshes and bay. There were a few cosmetic things to fix, but no real issues otherwise. My only complaints were the slow-flushing toilet and the showerhead being very low. At $50 for a Saturday night in May, I'd stay again in a heartbeat, and you should consider this Travelodge for a trip to AC. The staff were kind on the phone when I confirmed and in person too. Lydia checked us in and was lovely. The front office felt clean and welcoming, with a small bar and restaurant area beside the lobby and a comfortable sitting space. The hall decor was standard hotel stuff, but everything was clean apart from minor cosmetic wear. Ice, snacks, and soda were easy to get from machines in the hall. The other guests were polite, quiet, and included lots of families. We'd heard the hotel had plenty of bad reviews under past management, but after coming back today from an overnight in Atlantic City, I found it well worth the money. It's a 5-7 minute drive down Blackhorse into AC proper, then another 5-10 minutes to the Taj, Resorts, Showboat, or boardwalk, depending on traffic. Give it a chance, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The whole hotel lost water a couple of hours after we checked in. There was nothing in the room bathroom or sink, and even the shared restrooms had no water. After five or six hours with no sign of it coming back, we checked out at 2:30 a.m. Nobody could tell us whether it would be restored the next day. We did get a refund, but the disruption wrecked my travel plans. I spoke with a couple of hotel representatives, and not one had the courtesy to apologize for the trouble caused to all the guests. I'd never go back.

This place was filthy, and they have bedbugs. My family came in from out of town and had several rooms here. The staff weren't bad, but the overall place looked nasty as hell. The hallways smelled, and some of the showers didn't work. Our bus driver was moved to a new room because of the bedbugs. Do not stay here. Sleep in your car if you have to.
