Quality Inn & Suites Elizabethtown Area

The bed was ridiculously comfortable, and it was easy to get the room temperature where I wanted it. The room itself was worn, with lots of dings in the walls, and the hallways looked like they hadn't been updated in ages. Breakfast was pretty average, just basic cereal, fruit, and muffins with some sort of sauce. I stayed Sunday night and check-in was quick; the woman at the desk was friendly and attentive. They put an extra $75 service charge on my card, but it came back about six days later. I didn't get to see the pool or workout room, though I believe they have both. A decent stay for a budget hotel.

The hotel's layout is a bit odd, but once someone explained it, it made sense. The night clerk was super friendly, and the day clerk was nice too, though her English was hard for me to understand. The place was clean enough for a night on the road. Breakfast wasn't appealing, watery gravy and hard biscuits, but seemed about right for what this place costs. We went to Cracker Barrel on the way out instead. It's good that the hotel is non-smoking, but smokers sitting right outside the front door isn't ideal. There were lots of pets around, so it depends on how you feel about dogs. Also, turning left onto the freeway route without a light felt hazardous. If you wait patiently, you can make the turn and get through safely.

The staff really turned things around for me, and the price was great. The bed was comfortable, the heater and AC worked well, and the room came with a microwave, fridge, hair dryer, and towels. Getting down to the room meant taking two flights of stairs, and my key card didn't work at first. The carpet could use an update, and changing TV channels takes three button presses since the up and down buttons don't work for it. For twice the price, I suppose everything might have been perfect, but I left very happy thanks to the staff.

We got to the room and it smelled bad, with something smeared on the wall. There was no bedding for the pull-out sofa. They would only give us a couple of sheets, no pillows. I called the new desk clerk, who was a joke, and he refused to do anything more. When I asked whether his manager would be in the morning, he said he didn't know. The first clerk had been cordial, but his shift was ending. I would never recommend this dump to anyone.
