Ramada by Wyndham Elizabethtown

The lobby and outside are well kept, which gives a much better impression than the rooms do. My room felt dingy even though it didn't appear dirty, and the fake leather on the chair was almost completely worn away. The shower was awful. I couldn't tell if it was the low-flow head or weak city pressure, but it took about five times longer than normal and I still didn't feel clean. The rooms look very worn and decades out of date. I skipped breakfast, but my father tried it and said it wasn't good. The employee who checked us in was fantastic, and there are several good restaurants nearby.

I never smoked anything in the room, and I had my three small children with me, so I would never put them at risk. At check-out, they kept my $75 security deposit, saying the room smelled like marijuana. Nobody mentioned any issue until I called to ask about getting the deposit back. Honestly, when we checked in the room smelled damp and musty, but I didn't complain because I assumed the pool might make the whole place smell that way. It's their word against mine, and they kept my money. Their policies about customer fault aren't clear. We came all the way from NY for spring break and enjoyed the stay until I found out about the deposit. That changed how professional I thought they were.

The bed was really comfortable, which mattered most to me, and the night desk gentleman was nice and professional. The room was somewhat dated and worn, and the shower never got hot. Breakfast was just okay. On Easter morning, families were still there, but there wasn't much food left: waffles, cereal, or white bread. Someone asked the attendant for yogurt, and she brought five from the back. They were gone right away.

I gave them a low rating because they still haven't refunded my first payment. I booked through Booking.com early on December 24 while traveling, but couldn't go back in time to book the 23rd. The attendant initially couldn't find my reservation, then saw it was for 3 PM on the 24th. Their system wouldn't let them change the date. They said I could get a refund, but I paid for the room again anyway. The original payment still hasn't come back.
