Spark by Hilton Erie

The room was clean, and the hotel still has that new smell. Breakfast was limited to the usual bagels, and the coffee kept being replenished. Most of the staff did their jobs as expected. One dark-haired assistant manager had such strong body odor that I couldn’t stay in the common areas long enough to identify him or get coffee. Corporate support recorded a refund and gave me 1,000 Hilton Honors points. The assistant manager then responded with unauthorized charges and an eviction, which felt retaliatory, instead of addressing his conduct. I see that as an abuse of authority and a failure to meet basic expectations for guests. The rest of the staff handled their responsibilities competently, and they shouldn’t have to work under leadership that ignores basic hygiene and professional standards. Hilton needs to address these management problems to protect its brand. I’m giving one business day for corrective action, but my rating stays the same.

What mattered most to us was getting in and out without hassle and having a clean place to stay. We’re usually traveling for things like soccer tournaments or college visits, and this hotel handled both needs while helping us save money for all those kid-related trips. The public areas were bright and clean, check-in and checkout through the app were easy, and breakfast was basic but plenty for us. I know there are lots of negative reviews, but our stay was a good one. Thanks, Spark!

I needed a reasonably priced place for a week in Erie, traveling on my own dime. For a basic hotel, this worked out great: it was very clean, the staff were great, and the free breakfast was fine. There isn’t much to do in the room if you’re hoping for a hotel getaway, and the open, tidy lobby isn’t somewhere to spend hours catching up at a family reunion. Save that for an Embassy. But if you just need a clean, safe place to sleep, this is your huckleberry. And no, I didn’t say in-laws, did I?

Wendy really helped me out when I needed to get ready for a wedding near Edinboro. I’d booked Spark by Hilton in Erie, PA at the last minute, and my room wasn’t ready when I got there. She rearranged some rooms so I could check in early, which was great customer service. The room was simple, quiet, clean, and comfortable. After a long night of dancing, the fluffy pillows and white linens were just what I needed. There’s no coffee maker, but having a mini fridge was handy. It was a good budget-friendly Hilton for a short stay.
