We stayed in the college-themed room and found it exceptionally allergy-friendly: mostly metal furnishings, no upholstery, no carpet, and no pets. There was even a washer and dryer. The train tracks were far enough away that the trains sounded pleasant, and the view was nice. We could walk to lots of good food within five minutes, and the kitchen had the basics for making some nice meals. We didn’t hear noise from other guests. Altogether, a pleasant stay.

Once inside, it feels like a modern studio apartment, with compact appliances and a well-done layout and decor. Even the fridge alerts you if its door needs shutting. Getting in is different from a regular hotel: you book online, wait for a text with the front-door code, climb a flight of apartment-building stairs, then enter another code for your room. There’s no desk service or concierge, and if you want room service, you’ll need to order takeout. The stairs mean it’s very much not wheelchair accessible. It’s a good place to stay if you don’t need a pool, gym, or pampering, just somewhere to sleep while in town. Amtrak is one block away, so you’ll hear the trains.

I was in town for a nearby conference, and having an apartment-style place suited me perfectly. It had a full kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bath, and was very comfortable. Parking was available, and the staff responded quickly to my check-in questions and other queries. Thanks for a great stay!

It’s an exceptionally nice apartment, with a well-stocked kitchen and comfortable furniture. The problem is that they don’t allow families with dogs, and that isn’t stated on their website. I only found out after the 72-hour cancellation window had closed, when they sent me a contract to sign that said no dogs.

The Storyteller was a lovely place for a weekend with my teen son. We had plenty of space, everything was clean, and the mini fridge, microwave, and stocked kitchen covered what we needed. Dining spots are an easy walk away, with the University of Oregon, shops, and groceries a short drive away. Our hosts were friendly and quick to communicate, and we'd happily return. A couple of practical things: getting in means stairs at the entrance and more steps up to the lobby, so keep that in mind if mobility is a concern. Loading at 4 PM was busy, though the 15-minute zones across the street helped. Long-term parking was a manageable 1-2 blocks away, and our car was safe all weekend. There's a train about two blocks away. I didn't find it bothersome, but sound-sensitive guests may want to know.
