Hidden Springs Bed & Breakfast

Amber was kind and understanding when we arrived late for check-in, and the breakfast and service were excellent. We chose Hidden Springs for its history and Victorian style for our anniversary trip. Since we booked through booking.com, we didn't realize we'd be in the Hillside cottage below the main check-in area and kitchen. We could hear voices and footsteps at different times, so it felt less private than we'd hoped. We should have booked on their website to name our preferred cottage. The room was quaint and cute, though it had a mildew smell. It rained all weekend, so maybe that contributed. It's a 10 min walk to the Crescent Hotel and a trolley stop. Overall, a good experience.

We booked the silent springs room after reading the reviews and feel bamboozled. It was so small, with no closet and no refrigerator or microwave. The TV was about the size of a 2018 computer monitor. We were allowed to book with a 6:30 pm check-in, but when we called for access, we were told to come back in an hour because the room hadn't been cleaned. Two hours later, the floors were still wet from mopping, with hairs in the water where the mop hadn't been cleaned before being reused. The whirlpool tub was very old, and we were worried about what might be lurking in the vents. We did like the comfortable patio furniture. Breakfast arrived on time but was unremarkable, so we went elsewhere to eat. We won't stay again and wouldn't recommend it to friends or family. There are many much better places in Eureka.

Amber was kind, helpful, and an excellent cook during our 15th anniversary trip, our first visit to Eureka Springs. We stayed in the room off the main lobby of this historic house, which was classy and quiet. It's an excellent location, close to everything without being overrun by people. I'd give it 4.5 stars out of 5. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 was a peculiar musty smell, strongest in the main room and kitchen, that carried a little into our room. I could smell it without being bothered much, but my wife is very sensitive to smells that cause her headaches. It may only affect people who are highly sensitive, but if you are, consider one of the detached units. Overall, the place is wonderful and Amber is awesome.

We've stayed at John's place several times, and every visit has been amazing. He's the best, and so hospitable. The breakfast is fresh, hot, and great. We can't wait to go back.
