Laguna Inn

We stopped here overnight with our family on the way to Oregon after seeing good reviews on the site. The staff seemed cheerful when we arrived, but the other long-term tenants appeared to be drug addicts. There was a strange smell by the stairs, and I found a pile of old discarded carpet. The bathroom was damp and sticky, with holes that hadn’t been patched. It was too late to find another place, so we had the kids lie on top of the beds and planned to leave early. Then I woke up to roaches on my bed. Charging over $100 for roaches, musty bathrooms, dirty beds, and drug addicts is unacceptable. This was worse than the cheapest hotel I can imagine.

The room was a mess. The deadbolt wouldn’t latch, the smoke detector had no battery, and the bathroom fan was hanging down. It reeked of smoke despite being labeled non-smoking. The showerhead fell off, and the ad promised a 32-inch TV, but ours was 24 inches. Towels were tiny, thin, and very worn. Wouldn’t recommend it.

The women working here were friendly and gave good customer service. The rest was awful. The photos are completely misleading. The place seemed more like transitional housing, and homeless people were drinking in the parking lot and passing out on the stairs until the early hours. They said the room had been cleaned, but I didn’t believe it, so we had them remake the beds with clean sheets. Even on a bitterly cold night, I think sleeping in your car would be a better choice.

The front desk woman was nice, though I waited around 10 minutes to check in. Outside, the building looked rundown and nothing like the photos, and there were empty drug containers on the ground. Inside, the room was awful, with only dim lighting and roaches everywhere. The restroom ceiling had mold, and its door had no handle. Someone had taped the broken part and attached a string to open it. It looked like a prison or drug house. This place should be condemned and destroyed. If I could give it negative five stars, I would.
