Royal Inn Motel

I stayed in room #258. There was gang affiliated graffiti on the walls, and I found 3 dirty, abandoned children's toys under the bed. A few hours after arriving, I found proof of a bed bug infestation. The next morning, when I checked out, I politely asked for a partial refund because the bed bugs had bitten me numerous times. They quickly refused.

The room was moldy and unpleasant, the shower stream was weak, and there was no hot water. The walls were paper-thin, so I didn't get a good night's sleep, and there were sketchy characters around, including people paying by the week or month. The owner was foul-tempered and extraordinarily rude, acting like checking in was a burden. I wouldn't recommend this place at all.

After the sun went down, the parking lot filled with creepy, nasty people, and then we saw two cockroaches crawling down the wall while I was getting the baby to sleep. The room smelled bad and had a moldy shower curtain. The guy running the place was rude and said we'd have to pay extra for two beds because we had a 9-month-old, even though the baby sleeps with us. After we brought our things in, I watched him clean a room with a filthy mop and trash can. I didn't see any real cleaning supplies. We slept in our car instead of spending another second in that dump. No wonder it was the only place with rooms available in three towns. It needs to be shut down as soon as possible.

With every other motel in Eureka booked, my boyfriend and I ended up sleeping in our vehicle with my service dog after this motel refused to rent us a room. I will never stay there, and I don't think anyone should if this is how they treat disabled people. I was halfway through renting a room when a group of guys came up behind me wanting rooms too. The manager behind the window said two rooms were available, including the handicap room. I said that room would be perfect because I have a service animal. He pointed at a no pets sign. I explained that my dog isn't a pet but a registered service animal. Then he claimed the motel only allows five service animals on the property and already had five. One of the guys behind me said he'd spent four years in law school and that refusing me for having a service animal was illegal. The manager still refused, then said they had no rooms and started putting the board back in the night window. When I asked for a business card so I could complain to his manager, he said he was the manager and refused to give me anything. As I walked to my Blazer, the guy who'd spoken up came over and told my boyfriend what happened. The next morning we saw the same group walking off a trail near the beach. There were three of them, and they'd slept by the side of the road because they couldn't sleep in their car. It was really sad that I was denied a room for having a service animal and they were denied one for standing up for my rights.
