Town House Motel – Historic Old Town Eureka

The room felt outdated and gross, the place was run down, and the staff were rude. It also smelled like cigarettes and garbage. We had friends stop by for about an hour, then the next morning the housekeeper told us we couldn’t have so many people coming and going. The location isn’t as popular as they make it sound, and you can find a much better room elsewhere for the same price or less. There was some kind of award in the check-in area, but I wondered if they’d printed it themselves. They also charged us $25 for a cigarette burn in the comforter that was already there. It was the first thing I pointed out to my husband. After the trip, I called about the charge, and the man quickly acted like he couldn’t understand me, then hung up. Awful atmosphere. Don’t stay here.

The remote kiosk made check-in an easy, new experience. Our double-bed room had separate rooms, and I felt very safe there. It was cleaned well, and our housekeeper Beverly was kind, understanding, and communicative. A better stay than our last hotel, which cost $200.

For a basic stay, it was comfortable and quiet, with no obvious problems that made things uncomfortable. It’s the cheapest place in town, so don’t expect a view or a vacation feel. If that’s what you want, you’ll need to spend more somewhere else.

We had a wonderful honeymoon stay here. They worked with us for the last night, gave us a great room, and handled it promptly when the microwave quit. The room even had a lovely jet tub for two. It’s a small hotel with rooms upstairs, but it felt like a gem. I love this place and will stay here every time we return to Eureka.
