Breakfast was probably the best part, especially the biscuits and gravy. The eggs were rubbery, but there were plenty of other choices. Staff were great, and the housekeepers worked hard into the night. The pool and hot tub were both open when we arrived, despite being told the day before that the hot tub was out of order. We used both, though the hot tub paint was chipped. This place worked for a couple of cheap nights, but my family won't be back. It's more suited to a quick stop or truck drivers than a vacation. The pictures were misleading, and we hadn't expected it to be right by a Denny's, gas station, and liquor store, though those came in handy. Everywhere we went seemed about 15 minutes from the hotel. Our room looked run down, with peeling paint, water spots, and a fallen strip on the wall. The beds were very uncomfortable and too small for my husband, our toddler, and me to fit. The Wi-Fi kept dropping when we tried to use our Roku, so I had to use my phone's hotspot. The bathroom was tiny and a tight squeeze for my 6'4 husband, though the showerhead had adjustable settings. We could barely see out the window, and the view was the side of Denny's.

We ended up staying 13 miles away, which added about 30 minutes of driving. The pool had been closed for maintenance, and we weren't told until we arrived, even though swimming was the whole reason for the quick overnight trip for my daughter's birthday. I understand that things happen, and the front desk associate was very nice and refunded us promptly. Still, why couldn't they contact us beforehand? There was nothing about the closure on the website or booking, and I got no email or call.

Breakfast was plentiful and adequate, and overall it's a good hotel. On the second floor, there was no hot water because of an unresolved plumbing issue from the renovation. The tub temperature handle wouldn't move past halfway. Our Sensi Thermostat kept resetting from 71 to 61, and when I told the desk there were no engineers on site. They offered to move us, but we declined, and they gave us an extra blanket. The hot tub's wall control was blank white with no instructions. To start the jets, the lower button needs to be pressed, released, then pressed and held again. I've never seen a hot tub with a one hour option. Nobody offered compensation for the temperature issue or cold shower.

You can't set your own room temperature. They say, "It's a summer thang," and will bring you a box fan if you don't like the temperature they've chosen. Better to keep driving, there's always another hotel.
