Holiday Inn Express & Suites Evansville North by IHG

The room was spacious, the lighting soft, and the blinds darkened it well. The place was clean and the staff friendly, though it got busy now and then. It's set back from the main road, but you can hear the trains. The tub drain leaks a little, sound travels through the bathroom vents, and the floors creak. The elevator is slow, the room doors slam loudly, and the TV is medium sized. The electrical outlets are to current regulations.

The location off Interstate 64 was handy, with quick highway access and little of the usual road noise. Staff were friendly, and breakfast options were decent. We stayed recently, October 5th, but there were several upkeep problems. The room was dusty, with cobwebs on the ceiling, and the towels felt dingy and old. The sink and tub drained slowly, and the sink pressure was disappointingly low. The women's guest bathroom on the first floor wouldn't flush properly when I checked in yesterday evening, and it was still doing the same thing this morning when I checked out today. The cleanliness and maintenance need attention for a more pleasant stay.

The rooms were decent, the linen clean, and breakfast was good. My first impression was positive, but what I saw happen to another customer changed how I felt about staying here. After overhearing them and asking about it, I made sure my own things were locked away. They couldn't find their wallet and were told nobody had seen it. They said the laundry lady with purple hair had gone through all the linen in case it was wrapped up and thrown down, then helped search their room again, but it still wasn't there. They had an air tag tracker in the wallet and found it tucked away on the cleaners' cart after he said he hadn't seen it. The same worker was still there a couple days later, so it seemed they hadn't fired him and kept thieves as employees. I wouldn't recommend staying here. If you do, be extra cautious and keep your belongings locked up or on you, because they could grow legs and walk into a room cleaner's pocket.

The room was clean and had plenty of space. But even a quiet conversation with friends in the lobby at 10 on a Saturday night got us scolded. There were maybe 10 cars in the whole lot, half of them ours, so apparently talking might disturb the five other guests spread across three floors...
