DUNE Fairfield Beach

From our balcony we could watch people going about their mornings, jogging, fishing, or walking their dogs. It felt like a lovely spot for adults to unwind. The beach is only about 100 feet away, with private access, and towels, chairs, and umbrellas are provided. There's a breakfast shop across the street, Penfield Lighthouse by the shore, fishing along the sandbar, and public Penfield Beach within walking distance. This place was perfect for us, and we'll book again next summer.

We had a pleasant stay with our dog, and Room 1 being pet-friendly was a real plus. The staff were welcoming and helpful, the room was clean, and the neighborhood is nice for walks with a lively town close by. The shower was great, though the soaps seemed very watered down. There wasn't much furniture, and what was there wasn't comfortable. The bed was low and firm, pushed close to the wall on one side, and there was no way to watch TV from it. Blackout curtains covered the living area but not the bed area, an unusual design choice. A few practical issues brought this down to four stars: thin walls, weak WiFi with outages, and no sink by the kitchenette, so dishes had to be washed in the bathroom sink with nowhere to dry them. It's still a pleasant choice for pet owners or people wanting a getaway, as long as you're prepared to make some concessions for the location.

We stayed in a two-bedroom suite with an en suite, and it was immaculate and really well appointed. The relaxed boho-chic decor felt lovely, and it was great that the place welcomes pets. The beach is just a stone's throw away, with private access and free chairs and towels. Bikes are provided for rides along the beach, and there are casual places to eat nearby plus a liquor store across the street. Dune would be a great family vacation spot or a weekend away with your partner. We'll come back as soon as we can.

The mattress was a favorite for both of us, and we'd love to know the brand. The room was bright and clean, and I liked the decor. We were glad to be near the water. The heater worked well, though it was a little loud. Check-in and checkout happening automatically felt a bit different, and we hardly saw anyone besides the pleasant room attendants, so I gave service four stars. Still, everything went smoothly, and I'd like to visit again.
