Regency 7 Motel

Bed bugs. They denied having them over and over, including dismissing my photo and saying it wasn't taken in the room. I had more proof because I knew they'd keep denying it. They eventually comped my pay, after what felt like ten rounds of being lied to, though that's only a slight exaggeration. They wouldn't cover my ruined clothes unless I wanted to bring bed bugs into my own home. I also saw the man at the counter being very rude to an elderly person. It was one problem after another.

The room itself was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. It was a great room, which makes the service all the more disappointing. We'd booked two nights, but Hurricane Helene disrupted our earlier plans, so we changed flights and arrived one night early. I emailed to say we'd get there around midnight and got no reply. Their website said there was 24-hour reception. At check-in, the woman didn't greet me; after a few minutes looking at my ID, she went out back and returned with a man. He also said nothing, then rudely pushed a pen and paper through the window and demanded my address. I explained it was on my ID and was an Australian address since I was visiting the US. After more waiting, they shoved my ID, card, and key back through with no explanation of where the room was. I had to ask, and the man just pointed. I used to manage a hotel, and this service was disgusting. If late arrivals are a problem, they shouldn't offer 24-hour reception, or they should have an after-hours key pickup process. If we hadn't prepaid, I would have gone elsewhere. I didn't speak to reception again, so I can't say more about the property. I wouldn't return or recommend it, which is a shame given how good the room was.

The rooms were filthy, and we found foil with some strange substance in ours. I have photos. In the morning there was also light damage on our car, like someone had dragged something hard along the rear fender and door. The staff were rude and uncooperative. After the reply to my review, their response just confirmed that impression. Their comments on other reviews about how hard the rooms are to clean are laughable when it seems they don't clean them at all. Most animal kennels are cleaner. I'd only recommend staying if you're looking for somewhere to smoke weed.

For a place right by the highway, there was some noise, but nothing surprising. I found this to be a well-kept, clean property and a great value, and I'd stay again. The front desk staff were kind and professional. My queen room was spacious, with a comfortable bed and a large TV with plenty of channels. The bathroom was clean and had a hairdryer. They offered continental breakfast, though I didn't try it.
