We’ve had rooms here while our large construction company worked in town, spending over $20K a month at this location. Maintenance problems keep coming up: toilets don’t flush, tubs don’t drain, and internet and TVs stop working. When we report issues, management and employees roll their eyes and give us dirty looks. The staff don’t clean rooms properly; our shower curtain has been filthy for three months, floors aren’t mopped, and they charge $30 for fresh bed linens when they failed to change them. The hotel resets room keys weekly, but then tries to charge another $15 when you renew them per its policy. They kicked me out today for being a “complainer,” since I’m in charge of the crew and report problems. They also removed a crew member over a false harassment report, despite surveillance video showing it didn’t happen. The hotel has cockroaches, people camping in cars in the lot, little security, and frequent vehicle break-ins. Other franchise locations in the area told us this manager has a reputation for kicking people out.

The room had a few things that worked, the fridge was fine and the small microwave did its job, but the stovetop didn't work. The shower was hot in the evening and cold by morning. There was no shampoo or conditioner, and cleaning seemed to happen only every 14 days, if that. The front desk wasn't open during its posted hours. All the lights outside the bathroom were on one switch, so I couldn't leave just one on as a night light, and there weren't any lamps. The old slim phone didn't work, though that wasn't a big deal. I got the feeling some people live there. I stayed both nights, but I won't be back.

The kitchen setup is what makes a month-long stay manageable for us: full-size fridge, two-burner stove, sink, cupboards and microwave. There's also a big bathroom, very hot shower, decent lighting, couch, clothes space, dresser and kitchen storage. You can borrow an iron and ironing board at the desk, and have mail sent here if needed. It's somewhere between a motel and a little apartment, with no lease but no tiny shampoo bottles either. We've stayed at Value Place on Old Farmington Road twice now, first in summer 2013 and again in April-May 2014. Both check-ins were easy, our room was spotless, and other guests, including families, workers and people getting medical procedures nearby, were friendly and respectful. Parking is plentiful and well lit, and the entrance and rooms feel secure. Staff have been really professional and helpful, and a couple minor problems got sorted out quickly and fully. Chelsea at the front desk deserves a special mention, she's a born hotel pro. It suits what we need, and we're enjoying this second stay. We'll look for VP again.

The room was filthy, and smelled like urine. There was a rusty shower seat, dirt in the shower, and chipped white paint all over the floor. The microwave was dirty too, with fingerprints you could see on the outside. There was no soap or any toiletries. I think the sheets were clean. Check-in and check-out are only possible when someone is there from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and after 10 p.m. you'll be locked outside, so you need someone to let you in. The front desk workers were rude. For this price, just go to the Holiday Inn, you'll be much happier. I'd sleep in my car before staying at one of these places again.
