Americas Best Value Inn Florence Cincinnati

We’d been in room 125 for a month, and things had been good until today. We were $54 short when it was time to pay, and they said we couldn’t stay until we had the money. That was fine, so we moved our things out and waited outside the room to get it. About an hour and a half later, an older woman came over and said we had to leave the property and couldn’t come back because there were too many people in the room. It was a double room with four adults and one infant. Also, every time we opened the bathroom door, it smelled of smoke, even though we don’t smoke, and there was a hole in the bathroom tub wall.

I was gone within hours of arriving for a three-night booking. The room smelled like urine, and turning on the AC made it worse. There were holes in the walls and ceilings, and when I pulled back the bed covers, I found long black hair on stained sheets. I packed up and left. No one asked why I was checking out so quickly, which made me think this might be normal for them. They didn’t offer to return my charges. That was my last time using Priceline!

I was working night shifts and had to keep going to the front desk for a do not disturb sign because neither room had one. The phones in both rooms were dead, and when I asked about them, I was told to use my cell. The front counter staff weren’t very friendly, and I won’t stay here again or recommend it. The rooms were in terrible shape. The first had burn holes in the furniture and carpet, and the shower handle felt like it might pull out of the wall. The second was worse: no smoke detector, with wires hanging from the ceiling; a refrigerator seal with a gap big enough for my fingers; uncovered electrical outlets; and no toilet paper holder.

A clean, roomy spot for a couple of hours of sleep on a long drive. The microwave and mini fridge were a nice extra, even though I didn’t use them. No bedbugs, which is always good. My only complaint is that the door has just one lock.
