Comfort Suites Florence I-95

Breakfast was the letdown. They said they’d run out of hard boiled eggs, and whenever we went for scrambled eggs there were hardly any or none, even though an empty heating tray was sitting there and they could have made more. There wasn’t any meat, either. That was surprising since the hotel itself was nice. The rooms were clean, it’s easy to get on and off I-95, and we felt safe in the parking lot after dark.

Cedric was very nice when he checked us in. Breakfast had real scrambled eggs and bacon, though the chafing dish had no handle and the breakfast lady yelled at people to keep it closed. It was rude, and hard to do with no handle. The property also needs better upkeep: one elevator is missing the button for floor 2 entirely, and the bathrooms have old tubs.

The W/C accessibility was pretty good. There was room to maneuver, the bed was open underneath, the grab bars felt secure, and the shower seat was positioned well for reaching the handheld shower. The room was clean and breakfast was nice, with no major concerns. See pics.

Cedric was caring and compassionate, the only good thing about our stay. The whole hotel needs a lot of cleaning, maintenance, and basic updates like paint and carpet cleaning. In the hallways, the carpets were worn and stained, and the walls had chips, scratches, and marks. Our first room was covered in stains. The carpet was disgusting, the sheets and bed skirts were stained, it smelled bad, and the pullout bed was brown with stains and shredded underneath and along the sides. We were able to get another room, which smelled less, but its carpets still badly needed professional cleaning. The beds were good enough to sleep in, and the pullout wasn’t stained, but it was still torn and broken. We had enough blankets of our own to make it cushioned enough for my daughter. The tub drained poorly, so we showered in a pool of water, and the toilet wouldn’t flush. We managed a temporary fix. There were roaches and ants crawling around in the pool area. Breakfast was also running out of food and drinks well before closing, and there wasn’t even milk for cereal. The staff at the breakfast bar got snappy and rude when asked for things. The coffee jug was empty, and when we asked for a refill, one woman snapped that we should press the button. When I showed her it was out, she snatched it and took it to the back. This was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had. Hopefully things improve, or the place will keep going downhill.
