Days Inn by Wyndham Florence Downtown

The only reason this place gets one star is that the front desk worker, who I think was the owner, helped me bring the cart upstairs while I carried my baby in the car seat. Otherwise, I'd absolutely avoid it. The room was stuffy and hot, and the AC smelled musty and gross. The lighting was dim, and opening the curtains meant people could look in. The bathroom looked like a gas station restroom with a shower added. While washing my son's bottles, I saw a huge roach trying to crawl out of the sink's overflow hole. The hangers in the closet were covered in dust. The bed was pretty hard, and the pillows were flat, like ones at home that should've been thrown out after years of use. I've seen Motel 6s that were nicer and less dingy than this place. 10/10 would NOT recommend.

For under $100, this is the best hotel I've found. I've tried both the single and two-bed rooms, and the single beds are better. There's a mattress protector separating you from the mattress, with three more layers over it. The bathrooms are very clean and have glass sliding doors. The cable lineup is nice, with MTV, Spike, News, and ESPN, and there's a medium-sized fridge with a microwave on top. There's a new gym down the street. Ask at the desk to see the room first so you don't end up surprised by anything you don't like.

The managers were pleasant, and my room was clean and comfortable. I slept great on the bed. If road noise bothers you, a room facing the street could be a problem, but I sleep soundly, so it didn't bother me. The Wi-Fi through my VPN was spotty. I don't think that's the hotel's fault, but wanted to mention it.

The air conditioner sounded like a jackhammer, and the bathroom was gross. The place felt dingy and uncomfortable, with a price way too high for the quality. They did offer to move us and refunded our second room when we said we just wanted to sleep, which earns them an extra star. Spend a little more and you can find somewhere much nicer.
