Hampton Inn & Suites Florence Center

After a long, awful drive on I95, it was great to park and walk across the street to Olive Garden or to Sagebrush behind it. The hotel is good value, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and professional. The bed and bedding were comfortable, the room was clean, and I didn’t see any bugs. Breakfast was a typical Hampton Inn buffet. The rooms could use a refresh, but they’re clean and this isn’t the Ritz. I can’t believe how many negative reviews people have posted.

A roach crawled across the TV while we were getting ready for bed. We were traveling with two babies, and that made us so uncomfortable that we couldn’t stay another minute. We packed up our sleeping babies and left right away, then continued our 12-hour drive in the middle of the night. It was stressful and exhausting, and no family should have to deal with that after paying for a room. We’re usually very careful about where we book and check reviews first. The reviews seemed to cover everything we wanted, but the place didn’t meet even basic cleanliness standards. Our stay was extremely disappointing and unacceptable. I hope management takes this seriously and addresses the issue. We’re supposed to be issued a full refund!

The people were so nice, and the hotel was clean. It made for a pleasant stop on a route we take often. The location is handy for an overnight, near I95 and with plenty of hotels, decent chain restaurants, and restaurants you can walk to. Breakfast was just what we needed. We stayed at several Hilton and Marriott properties along the way, and Hampton was by far the best middle-of-the-road stay, especially for breakfast. We’ll be back!

The manager contacted me personally to make things right, and I appreciated that. I’ll definitely stay here on a future trip. The location is perfect, and I’m sure service will be top-notch, as it usually is at Hampton Hotels. When we first stayed, service was nonexistent. No one was at the counter when we arrived or left. I went back to ask for water and found the lady walking in from outside. She said water was only for Hilton Gold and Diamond guests. I’m Silver, but she said she’d give me some and handed over one bottle. There were two of us, so I asked for another. She said the rule was one bottle, but then pulled out another and gave it to me. I asked where to get ice. She said the second or third floor, though our room was on the first. I walked down the hall to find an elevator and found the ice machine there. At other Hampton’s, they text now and then to check how things are going. This lady didn’t contact us at all. We were traveling and heading to another Hampton that night, hoping the service there would meet the brand’s usual high standards.
