Red Roof Inn Florence - Civic Center

The room had plenty of space, but the toilet was backed up. I tried calling the front desk and found the phones didn’t work, so the clerk gave me a plunger, which was useless. The bed felt like concrete, too. I mentioned it to the front desk clerk in the morning, and she brushed me off as if it was nothing. I definitely won’t return or recommend this place if you want a good night’s rest.

The room was clean, and the gentleman walking around helping everyone was great. There are good restaurants nearby, and we had no noise problems Thursday or Friday night. The front desk lady was brief but to the point. The bed could use an upgrade. The head end was lower than the foot, and the pillows were kind of lumpy, like they’d been washed.

We stopped here on the way to Florida. The staff were very friendly, and the microwave and mini fridge were clean, which is always a good sign. But the place really needs updating and some care. The toilet wouldn’t flush, the lamp had rust on it, the chair upholstery was slashed, there were gouges in the floor, and the tub and shower were very old. The bedding looked clean, though honestly I was too exhausted to pull back the sheets. No matter how thoroughly the staff clean, the place will still look dirty until it’s updated. Then again, the room was extremely cheap.

I had the flu when I stopped here, and they put me in a room near the office, brought me hot water for tea, and generally kept an eye on me. The room was clean and the staff were friendly. I really appreciate that kind of simple human kindness, and I’ll stay here again next time I’m in town.
