Sleep Inn Florence North

Most people there were absolute sweethearts, and I still had an overall good stay. The older woman who checked me in was so welcoming, and Ms. Sonya was also very sweet and tried to help. My one unpleasant interaction was with Patel, who was by far the rudest person there. The next morning, I called because there was a brown stain at the head of the bed and asked for the sheets and linen to be washed or replaced. The woman said she’d put me on the list. When I came back later, the bedding had been changed, but it looked like the top blankets hadn’t been replaced or washed. I called again to explain I wanted both changed. Patel cut me off while I gave my name and room number, insisted everything had been changed and nothing else needed doing, then talked to other people while I was still trying to speak. I asked if he’d let me talk, and he said yes, but when I explained the blankets still seemed unchanged and asked for a new one, he said no and walked away. Ms. Sonya then picked up the phone and offered to wash the linen and bring it back the next morning. I was very thankful to her. I’d driven five hours and didn’t want the stay to have such a bad vibe. Patel nearly made me give the hotel one star and ruined my impression of the business in that brief exchange. I wanted to confront him, but he was gone by the time I came downstairs. I’m taking time to write this so they know he needs to improve his customer service or find another job. Everyone else was lovely.

The employees were all nice, and when our keys stopped working partway through the stay, reactivating them was no hassle. Breakfast was decent, the usual eggs, toast, and similar items. The ants are why I took stars off. My co-worker and I saw one or two in the shower when we arrived and figured it would be fine. After showering, ants poured out of a crack between the floor and shower, so we asked to move. The receptionist was happy to switch us and said they’d been having trouble with ants on that side of the hotel. If it was a known issue, I don’t understand why we were put in that room.

The location was great, and the rooms were quiet and clean. Staff were friendly, and the beds were really comfortable. Breakfast had eggs, sausage, waffles, yogurt, juice, and coffee.

The location made it easy to walk to plenty of restaurants, especially handy if you’re drinking. Check-out was quick and hassle-free, just like check-in, where the front desk woman was polite and friendly. We were there for the Darlington Race last weekend and had a clean first-floor room, including a clean shower. Neither the room nor the hallway smelled of cigarette smoke. Breakfast was good, particularly the waffles and eggs. The staff kept the property and lobby clean. I didn’t actually look at the pool.
