No bed bugs or roaches, thankfully, but the room was cheap and dingy. It’s okay for one night if that’s what you’re willing to put up with. They call the rooms renovated, but they don’t look that way, just new blankets over old, torn-up beds. The walls and ceiling are chipping, and the floor looks scratched and dirty. The shower had no pressure. Breakfast was the usual cheap-hotel cereal and bread, and the coffee was awful.
I left after one night and won’t be returning. My nasal passages cleared once I was away, and that slimy, dark yellow substance my body produced, which danced around on the cigarette-burned counter after I blew my nose, is in my rear-view mirror. My body clearly didn’t want me breathing that room’s air. The whole incident is being ignored by the mysterious third party, which won’t answer my email. Wyndham hasn’t reimbursed me, and it took a lot just to reach their corporate offices. The room had no phone, which worried me because the back of the hotel felt seedy. Nick and the maintenance man brought one for my safety. Nick said he’d check it in two hours, but never called. I showed him the mold in the bathroom, and he brushed it off as a stain. After they left, I noticed plenty more mold in the tub, a peeling bathroom ceiling, dirty tiles, a smudge that looked like a dead thing or bodily fluid on the wall above the fridge, a missing tissue box, unfinished paint, dead bugs in the ceiling light, and a coffee pot that was disgustingly unclean. It was dark, so I was afraid to leave that night. I’d booked directly on the website using the 239 exchange, and asked whether I was speaking to the onsite front desk because I didn’t want a third party. Anthony said yes. At the desk I asked why I’d been charged upfront for both nights. Pria said it was because I booked through a third party. I told her I hadn’t, and she said my card charge would show a third party. My account showed the charge from Wyndham/Days Inn. I showed her my bank register, and she said that wasn’t possible, but she’d look into it and call. Pria never followed up about the unexplained Wyndham charge. The room bill also includes $98.00 that isn’t itemized. I called Nick the next morning to say I wouldn’t be back. Wyndham Hotels and Days Inn Hotels, shame on you. Run like you’re being chased. I’ve copied Code enforcement, Health Department, Department of Commerce, BBB, Tourist Development Council, Florida Department of Health.
The woman working at check-in last night was kind and welcoming, and the beds were comfortable enough. Unfortunately, this was by far the worst of the many smaller hotels we’ve stayed in. Both of our non-smoking rooms smelled like booze and cigarettes, as if there’d been a party just hours earlier. One bathroom light didn’t work, and its door wouldn’t close properly. The room door looked damaged, as though someone had tried to break in. Breakfast was terrible, with very little food and nothing available. The waffle mix hadn’t been made right. When I asked for a new batch, I was told it was too late. Orange was the only juice, there was no milk for cereal, and no coffee. While we were still eating, the woman came out and put away what little remained without asking whether we were done or wanted anything else. She was very rude overall.
We were booked for two nights, but after what happened I didn’t feel safe at all. A fight broke out next door at 4 a.m. on our first morning and police came. Later that day, before dinner, a woman screamed at guests and kept knocking on our door. We saw her buy something from a nearby room and smoke it in the laundry room. Police later told us it was meth. As we drove out of the parking lot, police pulled us over because they thought we were connected to the drug room. When we returned, the same woman had told the front desk she was staying in our room. Police pounded on our door, with four cruisers, seven officers, and K9s there, threatening to break it down. These things can happen at hotels, but the front desk refused to cancel our booking or move us to another hotel, offering only a different room. That would do nothing for our safety. The front desk staff were rude, walked around barefoot, laughed at our request, and grilled us for not feeling safe. Completely unprofessional and uncivilized. If I could give zero stars, I would.
The hotel needs a lot of repairs. The sheets barely fit the bed, the AC hardly worked, and there wasn’t a phone, alarm clock, Bible, or even towels in the room. At check-in they also failed to mention the $15.00 fee for booking online.
