Hotel Texas Fort Worth

I’d been wary after seeing the bad reviews, but this was the only hotel nearby at a reasonable price, so we gave it a try. The room was small, though cozy and clean, and the bed was pretty comfortable. It was quiet enough for a good night’s sleep. The manager was nice, and breakfast came with coffee, orange juice, and cookies. Nothing fancy, but it beats paying $300 a night somewhere else. I’d stay here again.

The front desk woman was nice, and the location made getting around the Stockyards easy. Everything was within walking distance. Our room was quaint but tiny, basically just enough space for a bed and to walk around it. The shower was about two feet by two feet. The old-fashioned room keys made me a little uneasy, though I assume they’d have changed them if it had caused problems before.

The food didn’t give me food poisoning, which I appreciated, though I did end up with explosive diarrhea. The view was spectacular, especially if you’re into atoms and atomic bomb theory. We watched a barely working TV while cuddling with the very social rats and friendly bed bugs. Totally recommend!

My mom had been here about five years ago and wanted to return, but the owners had changed since then. We paid in cash, and the receptionist was rude. Our room, number 13, reeked of insect spray as soon as I walked in. When we asked about switching, there were no other rooms, so they gave us room spray instead. That smell wasn’t going anywhere. The pillows and mattresses had stains, every vent had mold, and there was thick dust on the furniture and carpet. Something about the place just felt wrong. I should’ve checked the reviews before the booking. It was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Live and learn, never again.
