After driving 12 hours from San Diego, I arrived in Fortuna to find my room had been double booked. The manager canceled my reservation and, when I asked what responsibility they had for the booking, said it wasn't her fault and there were no rooms left. I ended up sleeping in my car with three other passengers. Later, I found out I’d been charged the full amount for canceling.

The room looked recently remodeled and was clean, but the bed was awful. There was only one paper-thin blanket and no extra bedding. It also had no chair or bedside table, just a lamp sitting on the floor, and the TV cable didn’t work. I wouldn’t recommend it.

It was the last room, and they held it for me even though my phone reception was terrible. The front desk was relaxed, professional, and made the whole thing easy.

We got a clean room in really nice shape, and the other guests were friendly too. I’d called late in the evening, about 45 minutes away, looking for an affordable room with one bed. The owner was very kind and professional, and held a room for us even after two other people called. The next morning we chatted for a while with the cleaning lady, Michelle I think her name was, and she was lovely. This will be the first place I look at next time I’m in town. I’d definitely recommend it.

We had no reservation, and the town was full, but the friendly staff still found a room for us. It was affordable and easy to get to.
